Overview:

Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The incumbent is primarily responsible for preparing and dissecting surgical pathology specimens. The incumbent supervises the work of the gross room staff and the daily operation of the gross room and autopsy services. Teaches grossing techniques to pathology residents.

Required Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of gross room operations and specimen handling/processing techniques
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements relating to decedent affairs
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements for CAP, Joint Commission and California State laboratory law for Anatomic Pathology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current ASCP Board Certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science field or equivalent experience/training
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a UC and/or union environment
  • Experience in an Anatomic Pathology department
