Job Description
Under the direction and supervision of the Heart of Texas Substance Abuse Services Program Manager, provides services to individuals seeking treatment with a substance use disorder diagnosis that may also have a mental health diagnosis. Counselor will provide direct care to adults in an outpatient setting. Services include group, individual counseling; assessment and treatment planning; chemical dependency education; and relapse prevention case coordination, crisis intervention and appropriate community referrals. Counselor will establish and maintain good working relationships with local schools, probation, judges and other community resources. Counselor must be a recovery role model for clients in treatment.
LCDC will implement a recovery oriented, client-centered clinical approach, working with individuals who are currently seeking recovery services.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: - Completes screening, assessments and treatment plans
- Provide effective continuity of care ensuring that client needs are met
- Provides crisis counseling and supports as deemed necessary
- Prepares progress notes and other required documentation
- Provides individual sessions
- Facilitates group sessions
- Participate in Treatment Team Meetings
- Provide case management
Experience and Training - Requires successful experience in providing mental health services for persons, a working knowledge of DSM-5, psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention.
- LCDC or LCDC-Intern Level II Required .
- Requires excellent communication skills
- Prefer prior experience in the field.
Education/License - Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of an Associates Degree, a Bachelors Degree, or Master's Degree with a major in social work, psychology, human services, or other related field is preferred.
- LCDC or LCDC-Intern Required.
- Must have current valid drivers license and current and continued proof of liability insurance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of Substance Use Disorders Mental Illness and emotional components of DSM-5, psychosocial assessments, and crisis intervention.
- Considerable ability to work cooperatively and effectively with professional personnel; to exercise tact, initiate, and good judgment in dealing with clients and relatives.
- Ability to prepare reports and make recommendations for administrative use.
- Skills to speak and write effectively; to relate to people and to interact with consumers.
- Participates actively as a team member in supporting clients and the program as needed.
- Must have basic computer skills to enter clinical documentation.
- Must have excellent time management skills.
Hours: 40 per week some nights
Salary: Associates degree with LCDC-I $40,000 Annually
Bachelor/Masters with LCDC-I $45,000 Annually
Associates degree with LCDC $47,000 Annually
Bachelor's degree with LCDC $50,000 Annually Masters Degree add $3,150 Position: 499
