Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the Great Falls, Montana area to provide advanced psychiatric care to patients across the lifespan, including assessments, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders . 

About the Job

To prescribe medications, conduct therapy, and monitor patient progress. To focus on patient-centered care, providing services in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or private practice.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including medical, mental health, and psychosocial history, and mental status examinations.
• Diagnose mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and substance use disorders, using DSM-5 criteria.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting treatment plans as necessary based on patient response and side effects.
• Provide psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and other evidence-based treatments, either as standalone treatment or in combination with medication.
• Provide crisis intervention services, including assessing and managing acute psychiatric emergencies.
• Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, primary care providers, social workers, and other healthcare team members to provide holistic care.
• Educate patients and their families about their mental health conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications to improve outcomes.
• Develop, implement, and modify individualized patient treatment plans based on clinical assessments, patient input, and therapeutic goals.
• Assist in coordinating care with other healthcare providers, social services, and community resources to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medication management.
• Stay current with best practices, new medications, and therapies through continuing education and evidence-based research.

Qualifications :

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on psychiatric and mental health nursing.
• National Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
• Current RN and APRN licenses in the state of practice, with prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in psychiatric nursing or mental health settings.
• In-depth knowledge of psychiatric disorders and psychopharmacology.
• Excellent communication, diagnostic, and clinical skills.
• Ability to manage and monitor psychotropic medications.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with patients and interdisciplinary teams.
• Work Authorization in the US
