Job Description

Position Overview

The Tax manager is responsible for leading tax compliance processes and assisting with tax planning for C&S and affiliated companies. The Tax Manager develops tax strategies and policies to enable compliance with applicable legislation and mitigate tax exposure, and partners with external and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal execution, risk mitigation and to establish controls

  • Validate data provided and ensure the accurate, preparation and filing of state and federal tax documents for relevant areas, including: Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projectionsEnsure timely and accurate processing of all estimated tax payments and extensions
  • Oversee preparation of and review balance sheet reconciliations of relevant accounts
  • Liaise with state and other local agencies to resolve filing issues/queries and to ensure correct and optimal interpretation of legislation
  • Monitor current and impending changes to tax rules and regulations and update existing policies and proceduresMonitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team Assist in creation of strategies capitalizing on changes to current legislation
  • Manage relationships with third party tax compliance providers including ongoing assessment of in-house versus outsourcing options
  • Assist in the analysis of tax exposures, including calculation of tax reserves for uncertain tax positions
  • Partner with various stakeholders to drive efficiencies and provide support with tax related projects
  • Partner with various internal groups to improve business processes, resolve tax disputes, and train on implications of business activities
  • Assist with development and execution of automation and process improvement strategy for the groupStreamline data collection through automation and process improvement
  • Ensure procedures and controls are documented and adhered to enable efficient and effective compliance with tax legislation
  • Assist in developing audit defense strategy and manage and facilitate tax audits
  • Recruit, manage and develop employees including: Identify annual objectives and performance assessment thereof Provide training and development opportunities consistent with objectives
  • Focus on Payroll Tax and will be responsible for managing the relationship with a third party payroll provider
  • Manage the registration process for new companies, handling tax notices and support of special payroll tax projects.

Skills

  • Specialized Knowledge : Payroll taxation
  • Special Skills : Sound understanding of general accounting principles and deep knowledge of federal, state and local taxes. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office tools; experience with various financial systems and tax software required

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree in taxation preferred.
  • 5 - 8 years of Payroll Tax experience
