One of SE Florida's highly regarded and established residential interior design firms is seeking a highly motivated and detailed oriented fulltime position for Jr Designer /
Design Assistant. In this role, you will work closely with our senior designer and company president to assist with all aspects of the interior architectural design process, from concept development to project completion. Ideal candidates should possess at least 3 years of working in a high-end design related field. You will be responsible for conducting research, participation with design plans, and communicating with clients and contractors to ensure that all projects are completed to the highest standards.
The Design Assistant provides support to the company Principal and Lead Designer.
Position Requirements
• Architectural drawings management - Printed hard copies of current sets of drawings to be well organized and readily available.
• Pitch in to help when necessary for deadlines.
• Attend all client meetings locally in and out of state to assist Principal and Senior
designer.
• Take notes at all meetings - create minutes & disperse to team in a timely manner.
• Liaise with and oversee on site work of vendors, contractors, including but not limited
to window treatments, painting, and electrical work.
• Assist design team with all design related activities such as preparing for
presentations and product research.
• Assist in the management of project timelines and suggest updates and/or changes to
stay on schedule.
• Collaborate with the design team and [Senior] Installation Managers to assist with the
installation of projects.
• Create agendas for all meetings.
• Help maintain a neat and organized office.
• Make and schedule all travel itineraries and arrangements.
• Personal errands for president and senior designer.
• Scheduling for Senior designer / Principal
• Create construction binders for team members.
• Organize all digital files in company server and Dropbox including photos, all project
notes, and all material selections for projects.
• Maintain material and sample library and files.
• Establish good working relationships with vendors and contractors to efficiently obtain
information related to the projects.
Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in interior design. Design or architecture experience, including high-end residential (preferred) or commercial design.
• Software Proficiency: Apple/Mac iOS, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and
PowerPoint). Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/Illustrator) and Google
SketchUp is a bonus!
• Demonstrated skill in interior design and office administration
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
