Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position.

This is a 12-month limited-term (LT) position and may be extended up to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. If becoming permanent, the selected candidate must have eligibility for a permanent appointment at the time of the LT appointment or at the time of the conversion.

This position is entitled to a $250.00 pay differential per month based on Bargaining Unit and/or work location.

The position is located at 1515 Clay Street, Suite 1400, Oakland, CA 94612.

Duties: Under the general direction of the Executive Officer, the incumbent will use technical skills and knowledge in nutrient sciences to lead the Regional Water Board’s efforts to address nutrients and harmful algal blooms in the San Francisco Bay. Specifically, the incumbent will: (1) represent the Regional Water Board in a collaborative science process to identify safe nutrient thresholds and guide decisions to reduce nutrient loads to the San Francisco Bay; (2) implement tasks associated with the development, adoption, and implementation of an amendment the Water Quality Control Plan for the San Francisco Bay Basin (Basin Plan) and reissuance of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Permit; and (3) lead harmful algal bloom response activities for the Regional Water Board.

Consistent with good customer service practices and the goals of the Regional Water Board’s Strategic Plan, the incumbent is expected to be courteous and to provide timely responses to internal and external customers, to follow through on commitments, and to solicit and consider internal and external customer input when completing work assignments.
